With this done, we share a fear,
Knowing well it could happen here,
Fabric of life it will tear,
The armor of God we must wear.
Can life be so casually lost?
When I came ‘round, who would have thought
With life just started, all recently born,
Gave no thought to the coming storm.
Today but figures in computer games,
These families never to be the same,
When children fall, the world seems lost,
How to cope with senseless loss?
Young men often do mindless things,
They shoot at cans, play little boy games,
But something evil has twisted their minds,
Sandy Hook, Parkland and Columbine.
Where is God in these unthinkable things,
Creator of all, to all the King?
I have no answer but this I know,
To Him in heaven your children go.
So look for God in your pain,
Anger easy but offers no gain,
Don’t focus on the evil one’s lies,
Caste your eyes on the eternal prize.
Life everlasting when a name is read,
Too soon for some but for all He bled,
While my heart still aches for your loss,
Remember that Jesus has paid the cost.
