There once was a little catfish,
Swimming the day away,
Sucking the bottom for food,
A leisurely swim of play.
Then appeared before him,
A shiny hook and string,
His curiosity was strong,
He’d never seen such a thing.
He swam over to investigate,
Looked up to see two girls,
They seemed to be having fun,
Pretty clothes and hair in curls.
Then he made the mistake,
Of nibling on the hook,
Catching his lip, they pulled him up,
No matter how he shook.
It turned out they were kind,
They removed the hook and string,
Now he’s swimming the pond again,
And to the bottom he will cling!
