Resurrection Garden

This poem was written in honor of a recently passed friend. I know he is now with Jesus and the angels.

My body lays here in silence,
I can see the blessed highway,
Though I sense your sadness around me,
I am singing resurrection.

I love you but I’m focused on this garden,
Waiting to meet Jesus and the angels,
My excitement is almost bursting,
As I wait, not for the end, but for a new, eternal beginning.

The garden has a glow that warms me,
The sky is clear but a soft, sweet rain is coming down,
I am alone but someone holds my hand, and a voice tells me all is well,
I have never experienced such love and peace.

I’ve been awaiting this blessed moment,
The one that is now upon me,
I’m surprised you don’t hear me laughing,
I can hardly sit still.

Wait . . . I think I hear him coming,
He wears simple cloths and a welcoming smile,
The feel of his hug is electric,
Goodbye my love; we are leaving now.
