Stroke

Driving along, minding his own
business, he fell through a dark hole
and arrived in an unknown alley lined
by wooden fences. The dark hole then picked
him up only to dump him again; this time
in a desert of hot, sandy hills
where his arms were frozen to his sides.
Finding his phone, he pushed the “God”
button with his nose but He wasn’t answering.
He beat his head into the sand until it bled
and cried, “I really need you to answer!”
Unknown hands placed him into a rolling car,
but he couldn’t get his foot atop the brake.
Now hands free, he dialed God again.

Again, the call went to voicemail and after
the long, pleasant greeting, he cried,
“Please God, call me back!”
A police officer stopped him for speeding
and seeing he was in trouble,
called dispatch for assistance; soon after,
the EMT removed his stricken body
but left his ringing phone in the car.
