Escape

I lay upon my belly,
An avoidance of being seen,
I view some distant movement,
Through skies of milky green.

I crawl a crawl of fear,
Watching for the shadow wraith,
Sailing predator flying above,
A swooping judge of fate.

Slithering through the ochre dirt,
To my hole to find safe shelter
Without a loricate shield,
I bathe in heating swelter.
