So, I uh, I read your obituary,
I’m sorry we never got back together before you passed,
I’m not sad though, I know you were a better Mom than I was a son,
I’ve learned about heaven and I’m sure you’re there.
I’ve got a job! I might even stay at this one for awhile,
Remember how I learned about computers before they kicked me out of the Navy?
Well, this computer guy at church knew a guy, who knew guy,
And guess what . . . they asked me to join the outreach team at church!
My darkness still comes back to visit from time to time,
But I don’t live there anymore,
I’m too busy trying to help other people find the light,
I’m saved now, it’s funny how the light beats the dark.
I sat with a group of people today,
They told me their story, I told them mine,
I prayed for them, that they would invite Jesus into their lives,
Some did, some didn’t, I hope they come back next week.
One of the fellas knew you and Dad before Dad left us,
He said you were good people that loved me very much,
I’m living on that love now, the love from you and Dad, and Jesus,
No matter how much I give away, Jesus just keeps filling me back up.
I love you, Mom. I’ll see you soon.
