Temporary Life

As candles melt from the fire, and
smoke vanishes from wind’s breath,
Live your days wisely, for one day,
They will stop coming.

Allow the fire of anger to cool,
For the scald of its flames,
Leaves the worst scars
where they are born.

Silence the storm of hurtful words,
Rest in the lasting calm of hope,
For hope is a citadel,
The sustainer of our dreams.

When you are dealt with pain,
Restore your health with
the salve of forgiveness,
The great healer from the cross.

When you fail at righteousness,
Know He gifted you the freedom of flaws,
Treat yourself with respect and love
by turning your forgiveness inward.

And from all who enter your life,
Mark most gently, those who
you love, as you wish to be marked
by those who love you.
